Inspired by Freud’s exploration of the real and the unreal, In Those Tales, Everything Would Change at the Last Moment examines the liminal space between reality and imagination. It combines voice and electronics with cyber-symbolic visuals, evoking a narrative in which unexpected shifts challenge perception and open up new realms of possibility. The piece invites listeners to reflect on the nature of change and unpredictability within storytelling.

It lasts about thirteen minutes. The voice tells — in fragments, in several languages, mostly without words — a story that keeps approaching its ending and swerving: each time the music reaches what sounds like a close, a single event (a dropped pitch, a cut in the image, a new layer of the voice) turns the tale somewhere else, and the listener is returned to the middle. The visuals react to the voice in real time, so that the image, too, is always about to resolve and never quite does.

The title is the rule of the fairy tale — the rescue in the last line — taken literally and repeated until it stops being a rescue.
