I am so lost in Blue

I am so lost in Blue is a five-and-a-half-minute audiovisual piece from June 2021. It was made quickly, in one colour, in the second pandemic spring, and it is about exactly what the title says.

The image is a single field of blue — sky, screen, water, it is never clear which — in which slow disturbances appear and fade: a darker current, a lighter bloom, something that might be a figure. The sound is a sung line over a bed of its own resonance, recorded in a small room and stretched until the room sounds like the sea; the words, when they can be made out, are the title, repeated in different registers until the word blue is only a vowel.

It is a lullaby for a year in which everyone was a little lost, and it is still the piece people write to me about most.
