Danse Acousmatique

Danse Acousmatique brings the vocabulary of objects into an experimental techno setting. Clicks, scrapes, paper-like attacks, machinery, breath and water build a rhythm out of the surrounding world, held above a darker atmospheric layer. The six pieces are Danse Acousmatique, Presque Rien pour le Club, The Reverberant Body, Concrete Litanies, Hydrophone for the Disappeared and Rituel pour les Machines Fatiguées.

Each piece has its own film, and each film enlarges that vocabulary into an animated installation. A pen becomes an ensemble, a radio becomes a threshold, a mechanical skin breathes, ceramic vessels sit beneath industrial strikers, a corroded bell hangs over a submerged archive, and tape machinery gradually loses its drive. The change of scale gives repetition a visible weight.
